Spalted Ash Vase

A heavily spalted ash vase with a riot of character. This wood was too interesting not to try to save. The spalting was heavy enough to make this difficult to turn, but the end result was worth it. This vase was left a bit thick to counteract the delicacy of the spalting. This tree was killed by the emerald ash borer, and some of the serpentine sawdust trails have been stabilized with glue and are still visible. This vase is best used with artificial flowers. It is not recommended for use with water. Vase dimensions: approximately 7 inches tall and 3 inches wide at the top.

All bowls are finished with a food-safe finish unless otherwise noted. However, wet foods may adversely affect the bowl finish. Hot foods are not recommended and could cause cracking.
